FAQ About ATF Fingerprinting Services

An EFT file is an Electronic Fingerprint Transmission. It is a digital file that contains your fingerprints and demographic information. EFT file formats vary based on the requesting agency.

ATF eForms 1 and eForms 4 allow EFT submissions. Currently, all other forms require fingerprint cards. Your EFT file will be valid ONLY for forms 1 and 4.

You will not be able to view the EFT file after you have completed your fingerprint appointment. You will be required to provide the EFT file to your FFL dealer.

  • Do NOT download the file to your cell phone – IT WILL NOT WORK!
  • Do NOT open the file. It is encrypted. You will not be able to view the file.
  • DO make sure you download your file to a computer that you trust as soon as you access it.

The processing time for an FFL application can vary depending on several factors, including the type of license you are applying for, the completeness of your application, and the workload at the ATF. Generally, you can expect the process to take anywhere from 2 to 12 months. It’s important to ensure that your application is accurate and includes all required documentation to help expedite the process. You can check the status of your application with the ATF during the waiting period.

I had a great experience dealing with Gorilla Fingerprinting. I called on Friday to inquire about their services. We discussed what I needed and scheduled an appointment for the mobile fingerprinting service Monday. Damaso came all the way to my location in Pompano Beach from Miami on Monday to do 24 fingerprint cards and 3 digital fingerprint cards. Damaso was on time, extremely efficient, knowledgeable!
